چکیده

The Eurasian woodwasp, Sirex noctilio, is an invasive pest of pines in temperate regions the Southern Hemisphere, and has been introduced to North America. A parasitoid, Ibalia leucospoides, broadly employed for biological control this pest. Volatiles emitted from fungal symbiont S. Amylostereum areolatum, are reliable cues noctilio I. leucospoides females optimize their foraging behavior (host location host habitat finding) a chemically complex environment. headspace volatiles A. were analyzed using coupled gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) GC-electroantennographic detection (GC-EAD) both females. Analyses revealed that species could detect several volatiles. In olfactometer bioassays, attracted 4-component blend 6-methyl-5-hepten-2-one, trans-3-hexenyl acetate, linalool, geraniol, while addition ρ-anisaldehyde was necessary attraction results trap catches field experiments confirmed these combination with tree attractive species, although release rate important. These can serve as basis development improved lures species.

Detection and identification of Amylostereum areolatum (Russulales: Amylostereaceae) in the mycangia of Sirex nigricornis (Hymenoptera: Siricidae) in central Louisiana.

The woodwasp Sirex noctilio F. (Hymenoptera: Siricidae) has become established in North America. A primary tactic for the management of S. noctilio in the southern hemisphere has been the development of a biological control agent, Deladenus siricidicola Bedding. This nematode has a bicyclic life cycle including a mycetophagous free-living and parasitic cycle. During oviposition, female Sirex wo...

ECOLOGY AND POPULATION BIOLOGY Trapping Techniques for Siricids and Their Parasitoids (Hymenoptera: Siricidae and Ibaliidae) in the Southeastern United States

The recent introduction of Sirex noctilio F. (Hymenoptera: Siricidae) into North America has raised interest in native siricids and their parasitoids to better understand the potential impact of S. noctilio. In the southeastern United States, we assessed various techniques to capture native siricids and their parasitoids using traps, lures, and trap trees. During 2009Ð2011, in total, 2,434 wasp...

Natural enemies associated with Sirex noctilio (Hymenoptera: Siricidae) and S. nigricornis in Ontario, Canada.

Sirex noctilio F. is an exotic woodwasp now found in eastern North America where it shares natural enemies with native woodwasps of Pinus spp. To study the extent to which native hymenopteran parasitoids and parasitic nematodes could affect woodwasp populations, 60 Pinus trees with symptoms of S. noctilio attack were felled in 2007 and 2008 in Ontario, Canada. Each tree bole was cut into 1-m s...

Deladenus siricidicola, bedding (Neotylenchidae) parasitism evaluation in adult Sirex noctilio, Fabricius, 1793 (Hymenoptera: Siricidae).

This work aimed to evaluate the Deladenus siricidicola, Bedding (Neotylenchidae) parasitism in adults Sirex noctilio, Fabricius, 1793 (Hymenoptera: Siricidae). Timber was sampled by cutting out pieces of 0.80 m in length in Sirex noctilio attacked and Deladenus siricidicola inoculated Pinus taeda. Longs were 15-20 cm in diameter, according to the tree age. Samples were packed in gauze-cages, fo...

Flight variability in the woodwasp Sirex noctilio (Hymenoptera: Siricidae): an analysis of flight data using wavelets.

We describe flight variability in the woodwasp Sirex noctilio Fabricius, 1793 (Hymenoptera: Siricidae) by studying tethered females in a flight mill device and analyzing output data by a time series methodology. Twenty-eight wasps were flown during 24 h-long periods, under controlled temperature and lighting conditions. The maximum distance recorded was 49 km, and mean velocity was 0.37 m s(-1)...
